I like this entry to :iconspell:'s contest more than my last. I'm not a fan of the background as much, but I think I did a better job on the characterization of Japan in this one. Its the same character, she is just dressed differently. The waves in the background are supposed to symbolize the Ocean. The flowers on her Kimono and in her hair represent the lush beauty in the wildlife of Japan, and her pale skin is supposed to be Geisha like.

Even though the background isn't as elaborate, I still like how it really makes the girl pop out instead of blending in like in most of my pictures

Done in about 9 hours with Copic and prismacolor markers.
